The Vanishing Cabinet is a monthly sub service offered by the Indie cosmetics company, Notoriously Morbid.
What is Notoriously Morbid?
(straight from the source, Co-founder Laura Cline.)
“Notoriously Morbid was founded in early 2013 after more than a year of research into indie cosmetics. Carrie and I have known each other for 12 years and have a mutual love of dark, morbid things, which is where our inspiration comes from, and we both have a slight makeup obsession. Carrie maintains the order fulfillment (customer service, purchasing, production, filling, packaging and shipping) and I do the image work (swatches, ads, labels, website management). We work together on themes and colors and product development. We enjoy interacting with our customers in the Facebook group and often find inspiration from things we have in common with the fantastic people in there.”
Their line of mineral shadows, lipglosses, nail polishes and blushes have themes. Horror movies, cartoons, amongst other things.
For $12.90 a month, you get several products, and often a little candy treat. Of course, my kids snagged my candy before I could even get a picture!
This months theme was the cartoon “Jem,” and it was fun! Let check it out!

“Headstrong”- Aja can and will do whatever she wants, especially if it’s for the good of the group. A slightly greyed teal full of pink and purple sparkles.”
“Rebel”-Kimber is always looking for a way to be noticed. She lives her life to suit her and that’s all right. A rusty burnt red-orange with gold, slightly green shimmer.”
‘“Showtime”-Those infamous words changed Jerrica’s life forever. A vivid pinky/coral with massive amounts of purple and pink sparkles.”
“Show’s Over”- Just like that, Synergy ends her spectacular show. A slightly warm purple with lots and lots of sparkle.
“Pureheart”- Shana is quiet and keeps to herself most of the time, but inside is a creativity and loyalty that’s just beautiful. A vibrant purple with light iridescence and a strong metallic sheen.”
“Starlight” Lipcraft- The music company that was both Jerrica’s blessing and her bane as she fought to keep it. A soft pink with strong golden sheen and shimmer.”
Isn’t the gloss gorgeous? It is so sheer and sparkly! Smooth, not sticky, and has a nice smell. I think this gloss will go with just about any eye look. I thought it looked really pretty with my green shadow!
Here are the shadows swatched over Urban Decay primer potion. They go on very smoothly, and are very pigmented. The only color I had trouble with was “Showtime,” it didn’t seem to want to build up as vibrantly as the other shades. However, it is an awesome, girly color that would be GORGEOUS as highlight color, or an uber sparkly blush!
Since Notoriously Morbid is a small business, they are limited in the amount of product they can produce. On the first Friday of every month, they open up the Vanishing Cabinet for new subscribers.
